In his address to the audience, PM Modi said, "At present, India is a country that can be trusted and relied upon the world over, especially more so in the Global South. India is a peace-loving nation that is committed to development, not expansionism similar to many others. It has always been in the forefront in support of the open, secure, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

" PM Modi added, "India sets a record of delivering defense equipment to more than 100 nations while at the same time promoting global partnerships in the war against the traffic of weapons, drugs, and terrorism and thus making oceans secure and prosperous." The INS Surat, the last ship of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, is the most advanced destroyer in the world with 75% indigenous content. It has weapon sensor systems and the advanced network-centric capabilities of the state of the art.

The ship's commissioning augments India's naval power in the world. INS Nilgiri, the first Indian stealth frigate from the Project 17A, has been added to the fleet, resulting in a substantial expansion of the Indian Navy's naval technology. Moreover, INS Vaghsheer, the sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene Project, reinforces India’s own capacity in submarine construction, having been produced in partnership with France through Naval Group. PM Modi during the commissioning ceremony stated, "India has also come into being as the First Responder in the entire Indian Ocean Region.

The Navy of India, in the last few months, has saved hundreds of lives and cargo worth thousands of crores of rupees (worth both national and international). The world's trust in India has gone up quite a bit. It has moved upward because of each and every one of you.
